WHAT THE PRESS SAY..
“The word Prodigy seems to entirely fall short of this soft-spoken young man’s skills, he coaxes sounds and melodies out of his instrument that literally drop jaws.” The Calgary Herald, CANADA

“Today I saw the future of Folk – Festival goers flocking in their thousands towards the main stage to witness a young musical phenomenon from Australia dish out an absolute show-stopper.”
The Firefly Column, USA

“Daniel Champagne is a crossroads. Fusing the strong traditions of Blues, Folk and other roots art with pop showmanship and admirable lyrical ability. I firmly believe that he will become an ambassador for roots music in a time where it desperately needs representation.”
The Indie Blender, CANADA

“reinventing roots guitar”
Rhythms Magazine, AUSTRALIA

“Watching Daniel Champagne perform is a once in a lifetime experience. He is a true prodigy that plays like no one else could possibly play unless they spent at least two lifetimes studying the art.” BW Review, NEW ZEALAND

‘Daniel Champagne exudes a natural ease on stage, as he sings poignant lyrics and beautifully crafted melodies that invariably whisk the heart up with grand romanticism. Coupled with an exhilarating guitar talent that transcends mere acoustic playing to replicate a whole band, Champagne is just magical’ Themusic.com.au, AUSTRALIA

Catgut & Steel - Free Entry

Mike and Anna and several black cats tempt FATE, juggle chainsaws and seek enlightenment. Join us in this epic quest.

Who are we? Where on the great journey will we be guided? Our conversations with other adventurers have led to an invocation of ultra-holistic consciousness. Humankind has nothing to lose.

To go along the circuit is to become one with it. Consciousness is the knowledge of starfire, and of us. Nothing is impossible.

The C.R.C.W. Great Getaway Americana Fest! - Free Entry

This is it! Chris Wilson is making his getaway & handing over the reins of Dog With Two Tails.

To send him off in style we are lucky enough to have Matt Joe Gow, Jo Little, Jared Smith & Hana Fahy playing us a Trans-Tasmin Americana, Blues & Soul Extravaganza. Holy sh*t mate, it's gonna be a cracker!

N.Z. born Melbourne based Americana artist Matt Joe Gow
Signed with liberation records in 2009 Matt released his solo debut “the Messenger” that same year.
He recently released his follow up solo album last year titled “seven years” which was Nominated for best country album in the “Age Victoria music awards”
He has Toured and supported international artists such as Chris Isaak, Grant Lee Phillips, Justin Townes Earle, the Jayhawks, jimmy Barnes and Kasey Chambers

Jo Little & Jared Smith sound like they belong on stage in the deep south of America, there is a nostalgic feel about their music that’s familiar even though you have never heard it before. Smith’s guitar is a well worn instrument and you can see why when he performs, the strings moan and cry between verses, tastefully showing a restraint that allows the music to speak for itself. Little’s velvety smooth and agile vocals skillfully harmonize with Smith’s more smoky and gruff tones, expertly weaving catchy hooks through songs inspired by the ups and downs of love and their life on the road.
From blues to alt-country and soul this duo’s set ranges from foot stomping to heartbreaking. Whatever the mood, this couple have a captivating quality about them, their music will stay with you long after the last tune has been played.

Hana Fahy’s musical offerings run the gamut from melancholic blues ballads to playful, soul-infused pop ditties that will stick in your brain long after the music has ended. Syncopated keyboard rhythms underpin warm, smoky vocals, while catchy choruses are peppered with the lyrical wit that permeates Fahy’s songs.
Hailing from Dunedin, in New Zealand’s shaky southern isle, Fahy has performed extensively throughout New Zealand both as a solo artist and with her band, honing her craft in venues large and small throughout the country.

Dub Cymatics NZ Tour - $5 Entry

What isn't possible, when two multi-instrumental, one-man-bands combine with an Ableton genius?

The Brunswick Space Agency presents, for the first time in New Zealand, Dub Cymatics, fresh out of the Australasian melting pot and built upon utilising the potential of midi-synced live looping. Two independently touring musicians, Erin (NZ), and Sid (NSW) link and sync their pedals (think Tash Sultana plus Ed Sheeran) and then mix live acoustic and electronic instruments (guitar, clarinet, keys, and trumpet) with drum samples and beatboxing to create everything from dubby reggae soundscapes to thumping live dance tracks. Melbourne-based producer and DJ Kayboku adds a generous portion of deliciously tasty Drum and Bass flavours to the mix, and the result is: “Like Fat Freddy’s Drop but with a chick singer”, or “A cool mashup between Kimbra and John Butler”.

Inspired to create conscious atmospheres that are enjoyable and uplifting, in both lyrical and musical content, the contrast between Sid’s funky, progressive style and Erin's signature vocal harmonies and leads build dynamic. Springing from a love of Reggae, Dub and Roots music, their sound is fresh and evolving, inspired by Australasian influences Shapeshifter, Salmonella Dub, Blue King Brown and The Upbeats, to name a few.

They’ve already clocked a chart-topper, with ‘Dance ’til Tomorrow’ (their debut single) hitting #1 on the Triple J Unearthed Dance Chart within a month of hitting the site as a brand new act, 'Truth' wasn't far behind and the band held the top two spots for a week. They’re garnering the attention of industry as well as winning new fans at every gig, the kind that travel hundreds of kilometers to see the next show. Dub Cymatics just have a magic mix that will transfix you, and thats great, because you'll definitely want to keep an eye on this dynamic trio.

Their first gig was opening for Sydney’s The Mavericks and the Kava Kings, before confidently embarking upon what’s possibly the biggest summer tour of New Zealand in 2018. Kicking off in January, Dub Cymatics hit the South Island first to great response.
In early February they hit the North Island to support Byron Bay’s International Dancehall Collective the 4’20 Sound for four shows of their own NZ tour.

With almost fifty dates locked in around the country, they’re undoubtedly hitting a venue near you within the next few months. Shows will be everything from soulful, passionate jams featuring solo sets from both artists, to all-night dance parties featuring cutting edge, original productions and visual effects.

You can check out their two singles on Soundcloud: ‘Truth’ was written and recorded just for the tour, and features a timeline of their adventures throughout Aotearoa. There’s an album in the pipeline, with another single set to drop within the next few weeks. Rumour has it that 2018 will also see Dub Cymatics hit the northern hemisphere, for a European tour as well, but details are yet to be released. Keep an eye on the website for more details, www.dubcymatics.com.

Catch ‘em while you can, and let Dub Cymatics shape your soul and energise you with the best vibrations.

$5 on the door.

Girlboss EP Release Party w/ Jack Berry - Free Entry

Girlboss will visit Dog with Two Tails in Dunedin for the release party for its debut EP Body Con: a small run of cassettes through Wellington label Ball of Wax.

girlboss will be joined by the splendid Jack Berry.

Early comments from the studio engineer are that he’s “really digging where it is,” with Olivia’s focused drumming, Darian’s ornamental guitar lines, and Douglas’s bass “defined with string noise” supporting Lucy’s voice, which has “unusual harmonics.”

Crooked Weather at Dog With Two Tails - Free Entry

Crooked Weather are a rock infused folk band, based out of whatever rusty vehicle they can beg, steal or borrow and fueled by the new people and places they meet whilst being on the road.

They hail from the depths of East Yorkshire, England, but over the last 2 years have toured the lengths and breadths of Ireland, New Zealand, U.S., England and Holland. Their original songs, steeped somewhere in the folk revival of the late 60's, have a raw, modern edge, with the lilting harmonies of Holly & Will at the core.

Building up a reputation for their live shows, they've supported the likes of Jeffrey Lewis, Micheal Chapman, Mike Heron (Incredible String Band), Jim Jones, Dick Gaughan, Roddy Woomble & Bridget St. John along their way.

Thirsty for the road again, they head to Australia and New Zealand on their 'Paper Roads Tour' where they have more than 30 shows lined up for the end of 2017 and the beginning of 2018. They will also have some of their most recent and currently unreleased studio recordings following in tow.

"They are indie meets World music meets traditional British folk. Think a contemporary Incredible String Band with a 21st century mindset or the acoustic side of Led Zeppelin.” - Sid Griffin (Bob Dylan Biographer // BBC 6 Music)
